Team

The Immersive Wellness Team is a creative and innovative group of media designers, artists, programmers, and academics affiliated with Arizona State University's Arts and Media Engineering Department. We are partnered with ASU's Center for Innovation in Healthy & Resilient Aging (CIHRA). We thank the generous support of the Edson New Idea Fund, administered by the ASU BioDesign Institute.


DR. PAVAN TURAGA
Dr. Pavan Turaga is the Director of the School of Arts, Media and Engineering, and a Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. Their research spans machine learning and modeling with time-series, image, video, 3D point clouds and more, with applications in interactive systems, immersive experiences, and mobile-health.

Dr. Pavan Turaga

TODD INGALLS
Todd Ingalls is a media composer who works with interactive performance and experiential media systems. He is currently Professor of Research and Associate Director of the School of Arts, Media and Engineering at Arizona State University where he also serves as Assistant Director. His research focuses on gestural communication and embodied media interaction, affect in music, and algorithmic media composition as well as novel mediated environments for stroke and Parkinson's disease rehabilitation.

DR. TEJASWI LINGE GOWDA
Dr. Gowda is a Faculty Associate at AME at the Herberger School of Design and Arts. His interests include Internet of Things, Full-Stack Cloud Programming. Curently he teaches AME 220: Proghramming for the Web, AME 394: Programming the Internet of Things, AME 494: Programming for the Social-Interactive Web. When not at ASU, he is working on his startup that specializes in Full-stack development and IoT consulting and product design.

Dr. Tejaswi Linge Gowda

MAX BERNSTEIN
Max Bernstein is an Assistant Clinical Professor jointly appointed in the Sidney Poitier New American Film School, and the School of Music Dance theater, as well as acting as associate director for the Geometric Media Lab in the School of Arts Media and Engineering in the Arizona State University Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Their research and productions explore intersections of liveness and mediation, cinematic futures, queer futurism, anthropomorphization of the anthropocene, post-human philosophies and the body.

Max Bernstein

ELLE SPENCER LEWIS
Elle Spencer Lewis is an Emmy-nominated composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and performer based in Los Angeles. She has worked on award-nominated films, tv shows and interactive environments. She has composed for multiple media platforms from films, documentaries, and commercials to interactive environments such as Redbull-At-Night and 3D visuals for the Space Shuttle Endeavor opening at the Science Center in L.A.

DENNIS "FOX" BONILLA
Dennis Bonilla serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Variable Labs, Inc. With nearly two decades of technology experience, Dennis has helped create data visualization and collaboration systems for NASA and other U.S. agencies, and has supported committees advising President Barack Obama about options for future human spaceflight. Prior to joining Variable Labs, Dennis supported NASA, specializing in simulation design, data visualization, and digital strategy for the NASA Office of the Chief Technologist, Space Technology Mission Directorate, and Human Exploration Operations Mission Directorate.

XAVIER NOKES
Xavier Nokes, MA, is a creator, designer, and practicing artist interested in the transformative nature of spaces and environments. Their work permeates the digital and physical, with the hope of creating worlds and experiences that allow people a sense of escapism, beauty, and escapism. Their initial exploration of the Pleasant Experiences Project (PEP) has provided them the opportunity to explore with virtual reality/360 video, and they hope to continue work developing experiences of this and various other mediums.

AZARIA FOWLER
Azaria Fowler is a graduate student researcher, full-stack web and software developer, user interface designer, and digital artist. She is currently studying Computer Science with a concentration in Arts, Media, and Engineering at Arizona State University and completing a research thesis that involves integrating natural user interfaces, body motion and gesture recognition analysis, and digital learning applications. After her graduation, she will be working as a full-time software engineer at Google in Austin, TX.

Azaria Fowler

LAURA CECHANOWICZ
Laura Cechanowicz is an Assistant Professor at ASU jointly appointed in the School of Arts Media and Engineering and the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering, and is part of the Mesa City Center MIX Faculty. Laura works across multiple media, thematically and formally exploring spatialized content creation, embodiment and memory through identity and neuroscience, art and science, the human nexus of health and technology, queerness and disability, and community oriented design. Their core methodology is critical worldbuilding, a design methodology which is future facing, focused on social justice, embodiment and play, non-hierarchical power structures, and collaborative ideation and intuition.

Siva Nagi Reddy Munaganuru is a graduate student researcher, full-stack web and software developer. He is currently studying Computer Science at Arizona State University.

Ri Lindegren, MFA, Dances With Tech LLC, is a dance and media artist, arts administrator, and educator working through the intersections of dance, film, theater, gender and identity, haptics, game design, social justice, and somatics. Their research explores movement-centered social somatic experiences that support imagination and holistic wellness. www.rilind.design.

ANKITA SHUKLA
Ankita Shukla, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher in the Geometric Media Lab working with Dr. Pavan Turaga. Her research interests lie in deep learning and machine learning approaches for visual and time series data, topological data analysis, differential geometry and geometry driven approaches for learning. From the applications point of view, she focuses on AI for Good, specifically towards wildlife conservation and human health applications.
